IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Monopusher Edition “Le Petit Prince”
IWC Schaffhausen just revealed their first Big Pilot watch with a chronograph function. This is the IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Monopusher Edition “Le Petit Prince” Ref. IW515202.
Integrated into the IWC emblematic conical crown, the single push-button controls the mechanical stopwatch. The watch has a deep-blue sunburst dial, a stainless-steel case and is limited edition to 500 pieces.
For IWC Schaffhausen, chronographs are main competence of the brand. For the first time, IWC integrate a chronograph function on their iconic aviator’s watch.
Christian Knoop, the Creative Director of IWC Schaffhausen, explain to us this pair of the chronograph and the Big Pilot’s watch: “IWC has always been about tackling engineering challenges and finding technically elegant solutions. We have had the idea to present a Big Pilot’s Watch with a chronograph function for some time now. However, one can hardly imagine the unmistakable design with the large case and conical crown with two chronograph pushers on the side of the case. Therefore, we hit upon the surprising and at the same time logical idea to integrate a monopusher chronograph”.
With one push button Integrated into the IWC emblematic conical crown you can control the monopusher chronograph, making this a practical and a user-friendly experience. Pressing the button once, you will start a new timing. If you will press the second time, you will stop the timing. Up to one hour, your stop time will be displayed on the sub-dial at 12 o’clock. To reset the chronograph to zero, you will have to push the button for the third time.
The IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Monopusher Edition “Le Petit Prince” has a deep-blue sunburst dial to honor the novel of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The case of the watch is in stainless-steel and hands of the watch are rhodium plated. For legibility in the night, the applied numerals, the hands and the indices of the watch had been coated with luminous material by IWC.
IWC Schaffhausen has 3 in house chronographs movements. But this one, the IWC caliber 59365, is the only manually wound movement from IWC. The power reserve of the watch is 8 days and can be obtained from turning the crown 70 times. On the case back you see how much energy is in the mainspring through a sapphire glass. Also, an indication of the power reserve can be seen on the back of the movement.
The IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Monopusher Edition “Le Petit Prince” comes with a brown calfskin strap with a folding clasp. The watch will be available at IWC boutiques, authorized retail partners and online on the platform IWC.com. To benefit a 6-year warranty, you can registrate your watch to MY IWC care programme.
