Mido Unveils Its Rainflower Collection
Launched in Singapore on 22 November 2018, the participative campaign #CreateYourMido invited Mido fans to create their dream Rainflower watch. Over 2 months, some 30,000 fans gave free rein to their creativity, trying out various combinations of case finishes, dials, precious stones and straps. Amongst the 2,418 different designs suggested, 4 models were chosen to make up the new, exclusively feminine Rainflower collection inspired by the ArtScience Museum in Singapore. Delicate and refined, Rainflower is perfectly in line with the Mido tradition thanks to its timeless design and architectural connections.
Rainflower, inspired by the ArtScience Museum
With its white petals open to the Singapore sky, the ArtScience Museum seems to float above the water. Its lotus shape and resolutely modern, pure design were the inspiration for Mido’s Rainflower collection. Rainwater is recovered from the building’s roof to be reused. Sustainability thus lies at the heart of this architectural icon, echoing Mido’s timepieces, which are designed to defy the passage of time. It was this characteristic of the building that inspired the brand to choose the name Rainflower for this women’s collection. Pure lines, gentle curves and an evocation of the splendour of the plant world are points that the Rainflower collection shares with this sublime building.
An exclusively feminine collection offering the perfect expression of timeless elegance
Refined and understated, the new Rainflower collection is exclusively devoted to women. Thanks to its soft, rounded forms, it offers a supremely delicate style. Whether discreet or sparkling, the dials on the various models are all subtly decorated or engraved with a lotus flower. Equipped with the Caliber 80, a latest-generation automatic movement, these timepieces offer exceptional autonomy of up to 80 hours of power reserve.
Each Rainflower watch is distinctive for its unique dial and character. The serenity of blue and the iridescence of mother-of-pearl intensified by the radiance of diamonds. The soft sensuality of pink in varying shades on the case and strap, as well as exquisite pink sapphires. The timelessness of a white grained dial delicately embellished with Roman numerals in rose gold PVD. Or the assertive character of brown-tinted mother-of-pearl and a remarkable leather strap in a matching hue.
These first 4 models are joined by a limited edition model released in a series of 500 designed by internationally renowned model Romee Strijd, who was the first to contribute to the participative #CreateYourMido campaign. The divine Romee Strijd paid Mido the immense compliment of creating her own Rainflower watch and wearing it prior to release at the campaign launch in Singapore in November 2018.
