Sinn Spezialuhren presents model EZM 1.1 Anniversary
Sinn Spezialuhren introduced its first mission timer in 1997. The EZM 1 was worn and tested by the special unit of the German Central Customs Support Group ZUZ (Zentrale Unterstützungsgruppe Zoll). This EZM 1 marked the company’s ongoing development of a long line of mission timers for professional users, which clearly demonstrate its right to bear the designation ‘Spezialuhren’, or special watches, as part of its name. To mark this anniversary, the high-quality mechanical watch manufacturer is presenting a worthy successor in shape of the 500-piece limited-edition EZM 1.1.
Since 1 September, customers are able to purchase their watches here directly and benefit from the very generously sized sales- and showroom. Watch lovers are able to view the entire collection from the latest catalogue first-hand. They also have the opportunity to admire past models from Sinn Spezialuhren which are no longer available.
Sinn Spezialuhren mission timers are specifically designed to meet the demands of a defined mission and adhere to the principle ‘form follows function’. This means that the design of the mission timers is kept to an absolute minimum. In this respect, they are distinguished by their excellent readability and rapid time-recording characteristics. Some mission timers are also equipped with additional functions to suit the specific demands of their mission. The EZM 1.1 now boasts all the virtues of its renowned predecessor together with the technological advancements incorporated by Sinn Spezialuhren.
One special feature of the chronograph is the crown and push-piece on the left side of the case to prevent pressure on the back of the hand and keep the watch from getting caught, even in time-critical situations. The SZ01 chronograph movement developed in-house and used in the EZM 1.1 is based on the tried-and-tested Valjoux 7750 and designed in such a way that the watch has a centre-mounted, jump 60-minute stop hand. This makes it even easier and quicker to record stop times more accurately. The new design is modelled on the clear and precise readability of the renowned Lemania 5100 movement – used by Sinn Spezialuhren in the 1997 EZM 1 but no longer available. This legendary movement now finds its functional equivalent in the chronograph display of the SZ01.
In addition to the chronograph function, the pilot’s bezel can be rotated on both sides and used to record cumulative time, while the captive countdown rotating bezel features minute ratcheting.
Professional users must be able to rely on their equipment even in the toughest of conditions – and the same applies to their watch. The EZM 1.1 therefore features a range of technologies. For example, Temperature Resistance Technology ensures reliable function at a temperature range of –45°C to +80°C while Ar-Dehumidifying Technology ensures greater functional reliability and freedom from fogging. The case itself is made of bead-blasted stainless steel, giving it a matt silk finish to prevent distracting reflections. The surface of the case has also been hardened using TEGIMENT Technology, making it especially scratch-resistant.
