Mido Guggenheim Museum New York

In August 2016, Mido launched the #BeInspiredByArchitecture interactive campaign, a 12-week round-the-world trip to discover 12 cities and visit 60 iconic monuments in order to single out the monument that would inspire the design of its new timepiece. This extraordinary operation inspired over 100,000 participants worldwide, Mido fans and architecture enthusiasts alike. Ultimately it was New York's Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, designed by the great American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, that won the favour of both the general public and Mido.

But the Inspired By Architecture Limited Edition does not just have a unique, resolutely contemporary design. It also incorporates the Caliber 80 Si, an exceptional automatic movement at the cutting edge of watchmaking innovation.

This chronometer-certified movement is fitted with a silicon balance-spring, an essential component in luxury watchmaking. In addition to its anti-magnetic properties, this component offers greater long-term accuracy than a standard balance-spring, and better shock-resistance. The Caliber 80, Mido's flagship movement, also gives it exceptional autonomy, with up to 80 hours of power reserve. Thanks to the transparent case back, enthusiasts of fine watchmaking mechanics can admire the finely decorated movement featuring blued screws and an oscillating weight adorned with Geneva stripes and the Mido logo.

The Inspired By Architecture Limited Edition is fitted with a smooth black genuine calfskin strap, integrated into the case, with a stainless steel pin buckle. This timepiece is water-resistant up to a pressure of 5 bars (50 m / 165 ft).

A special presentation box houses the timepiece, which is produced in a limited edition of just 500 pieces.

This exceptional model will be officially launched in New York on 26 October at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
